Butternut 12 fret OM #21022
The body size and shape of this lovely guitar is similar to that of a Martin OM. With the neck-to-body joint at the 12th fret instead of the 14th, the bridge ends up closer to the widest part of the lower bout (the sweet spot). This helps promote responsiveness and projection and results in a wonderful rich and full tone. The side sound port helps deliver more of that sound directly to the player. The shorter overall length puts your left hand in a very comfortable playing position while the cutaway on the body gives improved access to the upper frets. Designed to be ultra lightweight, both the body and neck of this guitar are made from butternut, one of the lightest hardwoods available. Butternut, part of the same family as walnut, is not only beautiful but it’s also a marvellous tonewood. With careful attention to material selection and construction, this guitar weighs in at just 1.55kg (3.4lb). Compare that to a similarly sized Martin 000-18 which weighs 1.98kg (4.4lb). The guitar was constructed in such a way that the back vibrates in sympathy with the top, helping to contribute to sound generation. The AAA grade Engelmann spruce top and light bracing provides just the right attack and responsiveness for fingerstyle use and strumming by a player with a gentler touch.
